News Article: CPD courses
2nd April 2017
We are involved with running CPD courses in conjunction with our colleagues at Vetisco, supplier of orthopaedic implants and surgical equipment.
These are day courses, run on weekdays. They are very competitively priced and delegates take home a “goody bag” of useful equipment and implants at the end of the day. Lectures are followed with a dry lab practical session so you can get your hands on the toys! The courses are aimed at the general practitioner with an interest in developing skills and knowledge which they can use in everyday practice.
Introduction to external fixation; May 25th 2017, close to Burton on Trent, Staffs, right on the A38. This day will equip delegates with knowledge and to handle a wide range of everyday fractures with tips and tricks to improve success and reduce complications. We’ve run this day several times before and it has proved popular.
Stifles; cruciate ligaments and patellas; June 29th 2017, Dartford, London, close to the M25. This day covers commonly encountered stifle surgical conditions. For cruciate ligament deficiency we will cover suture techniques, and introduce delegates to tibial closing wedge osteotomy and tibial tuberosity advancement techniques. For patella luxation we will concentrate on correction based around tibial tuberosity translocation and trochleapasty. This is a new course that we’ve added to our repertoire.
Introduction to locking plates; October 5th 2017, Burton on Trent, Staffs, right on the A38. The introduction of affordable locking plates to the veterinary world has revolutionised fracture fixation in recent years to the same extent that smart phones have revolutionised texting! Once you understand how they work, they may everything easier! We’ve run this day course several times before and it has received very positive feedback.
