At West Midlands Veterinary Referrals, we often see tibial (shin) bone fractures in cats, often at the lower end of the tibia.
These fractures usually do very well with a fixation using a pin down the middle of the tibia and a locking plate screwed onto the medial (inside) surface of the tibia. Sometimes we use wires to help align the fracture before the plate is applied, and these are often left in situ.
